Living in a small space doesn’t mean that you have to be deprived of garden. In fact, today, the vast majority of people live in small living spaces, where they have to make choices and decide what they really want to create and do. Designed by Rockefeller Partners Architects this Modern Home Design is located off a walk street with great views of the Pacific Ocean and Malibu coastline. Often, garden designs focus on huge acres and pieces of land, ignoring that most people are not lucky or privileged enough to enjoy such spaces. On the other hand, sometimes people come across garden ideas for small spaces they didn’t know that existed, or could not even imagine.

This residence is an exercise in careful space planning. The site is a narrow 30×60-foot area but it includes not only the house but also a garden. This garden is an open green space in the center of the structure at the ground floor level.

Working within the confines of a narrow 30 x 60-foot envelope, the design team pushed this Modern Home Design to the limits of height, width, and depth, which left little perimeter space to satisfy the client’s desire for a garden. The solution was to create an open green space in the center of the structure, at the ground floor level.
