This modern home named Villa Room was designed by Paul de Ruiter with starting concept is to allow the daily activities of the residents to form the main structure of the building. One of the owners, an artist, wanted a studio, a view of the garden and an exhibition space. Her partner, a man with a passion for energy and technology, wanted a Modern Home Design that could be controlled, in relation to both the indoor climate and the degree of privacy.

The villa is arranged around an open space with a roof through which light can enter. The northern light that falls in the centre of this Modern Home Design through the roof and the glass wall of the patio is ideal for the activities in the studio on the ground floor. On the water meadow side is a room from which this Modern Home Design can be controlled. The conditions outside, the temperature, the wind and the light are measured and the indoor climate is controlled in accordance with these so that the desired climate is obtained while keeping energy consumption to a minimum.

The ground floor has a primarily ‘public’ function, such as the reception of guests, exhibitions and chamber concerts, and has a large, inviting kitchen/dining space. The living room is more secluded and is located in a relatively small corner, adjacent to the terrace.

Unlike the light interior of this Modern Home Design, the façades have a heavy and robust character: dark bricks with orthogonal mortar patterns, heavy galvanized beams and glass that forms abstract, transparent planes as a result of the concealed frames. The balcony on the southern façade, the loggia with a view of the Cunera tower and the terrace and garden all contribute to make this villa a pleasant place with plenty of privacy, while at the same time the open and closed sections in the façade provide a wide variety of views of the surrounding landscape.

Above the open exhibition space of this Modern Home Design, central in the villa, a remarkable shed roof is placed. The roof consists of three sheds with, on the closed side, PV cells. The window openings are directed to the north and give a cool and diffuse light in the exhibition room. The PV cells are oriented to the south in such a way as to give an optimum in output.

This modern home was designed by Bricault design, located in Venice, CA, USA. This Modern Home Design has the exterior is quite attractive with its natural concept. Use of a planted wall make it’s not easy to ignore for anyone who saw it. The plants, including their roots, are actually contained by a modular green-wall system.

The clients for this project needed more space to accommodate the needs of a growing family, but they were reluctant to leave their location in Venice – one of the few walkable neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The solution was to maintain and remodel their existing 2000 square foot home, while creating a 1700 square foot addition and courtyard on the rear lane side.

With an ideal climate for much of the year, a primary design driver was to create a seamless connection between inside and outside, while eliminating the need for air conditioning. To this end, a central sculptural staircase links the ground floor with the rooftop deck, while doubling as a chimney to draw cooling breezes through this Modern Home Design. On the main floor, a sequence of pivoting doors opens this Modern Home Design to the courtyard, while on the second floor, windows fold back and full-height exterior panels slide into walls. A system of cedar battens serve as a shading device along much of the addition.

The volume of the new master bedroom extends out from the second story, creating a carport below. Its exterior is clad with a living wall system on three sides, visually tying together the courtyard greenery with the planted roof. All landscaping is fed with a combination of captured rainwater and recycled domestic greywater. The roof’s softscape is divided between a highly productive vegetable garden and indigenous, low-maintenance grasses and shrubs. The roof also supports a solar panel array that is sufficient to meet household needs.

This Modern Home Design features a high-efficiency combination boiler, which supplies both radiant in-floor heating and domestic hot water. A hot water recirculation loop makes hot water available “on demand,” while reducing consumption. Other features include low-flush toilets and non-toxic, low-VOC finishes, which are used throughout the house. Via.

To the South, across the road, is a park, promising an environment in which the four seasons can vividly be felt. Here we sought to build an expansive home in which a family of two parents, a child, a grandmother, and a dog would be able to live comfortably.

Though the site is small, from the the beginning we wanted to build a Small Home Design that felt big, as if even the park was your own. From the aperture in the 2nd floor living space, with it’s bay windows and bench that make you feel as though you are sitting in the park and where you can keep an eye on your children playing outside, to the split levels that allow you to communicate easily with family members and keep every place in this Small Home Design connected, we have designed a space with a sense of security and peacefulness.

Certainly this Small Home Design is not lavishly decorated, but we think we have created a home in which people’s lives can be enriched by interacting with one another.

While architecture that places the most importance on facilities and efficiency has its value, we think with this timeless design that emphasizes communication and security you will be able to find new richness in your life. Via.

Suppose Design Office has designed an unusual house in Saijo, Higashihiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan. unlike the previous article, this house has a slightly unusual shape, resembling a pyramid.  To  make this Unusual Home Design become a charming plan, designers take inspiration from the pit dwelling, is a primitive dwelling consisting of a pit excavated in the earth and roofed over, also Called pit house.

A client is a couple with three children hoped there are bright openhearted space, and keeping the privacy. This site is a field before, and bearing stratum is in the minus one meter from the ground side. Therefore, we thought support according to the composition of not the ground improvement, but a half underground from the beginning of the plan. The leftover soil by excavating the ground was used to making the hill, that thing is enabled the function of the garden on the exterior and guard their privacy from, house’s neighborhood. The upper floors than a half underground are composed by only the pyrami-shaped roof, the lighting was token in the skylight.

The bright openhearted space of a undergound and first floor of feeling the calm, and the second floor with which light is filled while closing.

Modern Home Design - Villa G by Saunders Architecture

This modern home was designed by Saunders Architecture named Villa G, lies like a white landmark in the soft landscape at Hjellestad, near Bergen, Norway. This Modern Home Design is large yet not dominating, modern but not pretentious. The house has a futuristic form but is built with traditional Nordic materials and architectural elements with a good basis in Norwegian building methods.

The wooden cladding on this Modern Home Design consist of 3 different size mounted in a random pattern. This Modern Home Design has an over built outside space and covered and the second floor covers the entrance below helping the house work together with the rough climate on the west coast of Norway. Villa G is now another plus in Todd Saunders consist portfolio of work.

The architect and the client started out on good terms and ended up having a very good working collaboration in all stages of the project. The architect liked the larger lines while the client was a perfectionist in regards to the details. The process was very symbiotic. All parts of this Modern Home Design were a fruitful discussion between the architect and the client.

The stair for example was developed together with the client and evolved after at least 10-12 suggestion that ended up as this final stair. The stair is one solid piece of 1cm thick steel, galvanized with white sand corn making it slip resistant. The stair is produced locally, weighs almost a tonne, and had to be lifted into place by a crane through the window in the roof.

When commenting his own experience of the how the design of the house evolved, the owner said: “yes, we had an exact number of how many meters of closets we needed and so on. We have built a few houses before this and have learned from our experiences and mistakes. We knew that we wanted a house with clean lines without any visual noise and clutter.” This is one of the reasons that most of the closets and storage spaces are integrated into, so – called, thick wall – walls that are at least 60-70cm deep. The kitchen bench is 8 meters long and has plenty of drawers for kitchen equipment and even other things that need to be stored away. None of the electrical outlets are visible and all technology controlled by a main control panel in the kitchen. The client admits that he is a “gadget freak” and this Modern Home Design reflects this part of his personality. Via.

This Futuristic home was designed by Neil M. Denari Architects. The site is located in a residential neighborhood Los Angeles, CA, USA, where four level apartment buildings and one story single family houses often exist side by side, mediated by green landscapes of domestic nature. The client wished to expand the value of the land and the size of the existing house (150 square meters) by building vertically above the footprint of the adjacent but detached 2 car garage. A variance for parking allows just a single automobile to be parked underneath the 2nd and 3rd floors of the new house, leaving a multi-purpose space and bathroom on the ground floor, easily accessible to the existing house across a small patio space. The middle floor of this Futuristic Home Design contains an efficiency kitchen, dining space, and an exterior deck on the north side of the new vertical project. The top floor contains a bathroom and an open space for living, working, or sleeping.

Geometrically, this Futuristic Home Design is formed by a SINGLE curving sheet which describes the basic ENVELOPE of the house. The sheet bends into itself creating INVELOPES, or internal surfaces which merge seamlessly with the exterior. In attempting to force the monological condition of the Klein Bottle (that there is only a single surface which describes the object) into a 2d sheet, this Futuristic Home Design necessarily must return to a binary condition of inside and outside in order to carry the possibility of continuousness. This persistence of surface is activated by the performance of the en/invelope in that the radii never allow a corner or edge to articulate the limits of typical Cartesian geometry. A structural steel frame supports the sheet and is hidden within an outer layer of standing seam galvanized steel sheet and an inner layer of gypsum drywall.

This modern home was designed by Marek Rytych Architekt, located in Poland. Through this house you can rush by and not even notice that you have trespassed a kind of a border. There is no threshold – literally and figuratively. Paved road, on which we step towards the entrance penetrates the interiors and comes out on the other side of this Modern Home Design, in the garden. It looks as if somebody threw a stone carpet on the ground. As if somebody has dictated hard conditions, has commended some risk taking.

Elevation materials were used in the interior as its raw decoration. They cover the walls fading away the difference between the inside and outside spaces. The sheet metal appears in the dining room and in the bathroom. Wood and brick are in the hall, living room and In the sections for the guests. The kitchen wall with the stigmata of the bricklayer’s formwork next to the granite table tops and steel home appliances looks like a modern fresco. The stairs seen in profile reveal their ‘incompleteness’ – concrete pulp contrasts with the epidermis of the wooden floor. The roughness of the interior was important and needed here. This Modern Home Design is like a sculpture, like a painting and art likes enormous spaces and most of all it likes uneasy solutions.

Because of this the ground floor of this Modern Home Design has been entirely opened. On the more than 100 metres area – only the screen wall slightly seperates the living room from the staircase and the kitchen which is behind it. Many interesting views and perspectives are being created. Numerous windows of different shapes and a number of terraces put on different levels absorb the green surrounding of this Modern Home Design. There isn’t much furniture but they gently merge into the background, not interfering into living and artistic space.

This Modern Home Design is a three storey building designed on the undulating area. The roughness of the area was used in a way that in the cellar section immersed in the ground there are storage rooms and in the section which has access to daylight there are guest rooms. Above them there is a daily living section, and higher there is a private section with bedrooms and bathrooms. The L-shaped solid is differentiated by terraces put on different levels and by numerous bay windows thanks to which the interiors can be illuminated.

The elevation of this Modern Home Design was covered by concrete brick, pine tree siding and titan-zinc sheet metal. All these materials emphasize the artistic sculptural play between separate architectural elements. The terraces were covered with concrete, sett and exotic wood. Via.

Modern Home Design - Whale Beach House by Neeson Murcutt Architects

This Modern Home Design named Whale Beach House was designed by Neeson Murcutt Architects, located in the south-east fold of a steep, thickly vegetated hillside, below a towering escarpment, and looks out along the beach to Careel Head, Sydney, Australia. Unlike the previous article, the siting of this Modern Home Design is derived from a pragmatic mapping of adjacent building alignments, northpoint, neighbour’s viewlines and required setbacks. These invisible lines establish the oblique geometries that characterise the plan, reminiscent of Coderch’s Casa Ugalde in Spain. Challenged by overshadowing from the escarpment the mass of the building is located as close to the street as possible, also giving space to the large boulders, rare trees and rainforest preserved at the rear.

This Modern Home Design is a multi-generational family weekender organised over three levels that terrace with the slope – children and grandparents on the lower level, main living areas on the mid level and parents ‘secret’ timber cabin on top. The plan is stratified, each level deliberately distinct from the other with internal stairs that are virtually hidden. Whilst the ceiling of each level is constant, the floors are stepped or ‘topographic’.

The project explores proximity and distance, invoking the special dualities of the site – the rock outcrops and native forest behind are given equal consideration to the front coastal panorama. Each room is considered almost autonomously, coordinated with the site and view. The experience of this Modern Home Design is cinematic as the view partitioned so that it becomes particular to each room – the horizon from the kitchen, the headland from the living room, the escarpment from the main entry, the rainforest at the back door. An array of opening types assists the orchestration – solid timber shutters that reveal the view when open, sashes that completely disappear, windows that capture the view within a sheet of fixed glass, strategic skylights for light without view. These strategies generate a spatial richness experienced as ‘surprise’.

Like its neighbours this Modern Home Design is elevated above the street, providing a degree of privacy. It is strongly articulated with upper levels clad in recycled timber that will darken in time to camouflage against the backdrop of the scarp. A void through the centre of the lower masonry level creates a view through to the garden. The native landscape is metaphorically drawn through this void connecting with neighbouring gardens across front. Careful collaboration between the landscape architect, hydraulic engineer, ecologist and builder allowed the waterway on the north-east side of the building to be restored, resisting to council’s attempts to create a stormwater easement and instead enriching the landscape setting. Urban Home Design – Grangegorman Residence

Odos architects have designed homes for motorcycle enthusiasts, built adjacent to No.10 Grangegorman Villas, Dublin, Ireland. Unlike the previous article, this Urban Home Design is an alternative reaction to the more traditional city centre infill residential projects; an unapologetic piece of architecture sitting within a strong urban context defined by both site and planning constraints. This Urban Home Design is essentially two living plates over a workshop connected by a vertical service and circulation core. While the character of this new structure is unmistakably contemporary it has been designed to sit discreetly within its more traditional context, while giving the end of the terrace the strong presence it deserves.

The break up of the the buildings main elements, defined in elevation by the horizontal structural lines, help to identify the structure and functions contained behind. The profile of this Urban Home Design is further strengthened with a deliberately weighted treatment to the openings at first and ground floor level adding to the aura of secrecy as to what’s contained within. An external terrace area has been provided at the front section of the upper floor, increasing the visual and physical depth of the open plan living accommodation. This is further emphasized by the full height frame less fixed glazing sections, visible on the front and rear elevations.

The external screen to the deck area has been fabricated using vertical aluminum fins to match the satin-anodized aluminum cladding to the fixed and opening sections below. The irregular spacing of these fins gives this screen a semi-transparent appearance, particularly when viewed from a westerly direction and during the evening when it is illuminated from behind. This reduces the perceived bulk of the building, depending on the viewers position and alters the appearance of the structure over a twenty four hour period. The elevations become more transparent as you move from the ground floor up terminating in the upper floor external terrace.

This Urban Home Design is entered under a canopy, which extends internally to create a ‘suppressed’ area inside the front door, emphasizing a triple height stairwell beyond. The experience of this space is further enhanced through the introduction of a full width roof light running the full length of the building, flooding this volume with natural light. Accommodation comprises of a second floor open plan living, dining and kitchen space linked to the first floor bedrooms and bathroom by the triple height circulation zone. This circulation volume of this Urban Home Design extends down to the ground floor providing access to the lower garage area the walled back garden behind and the paved front garden facing the street. The enclosed back garden, to the rear of the property, is seen as a landscaped courtyard which opens directly into the ground floor volume and is partially sheltered by the cantilevered structure above. This small house was designed by Suppose Design Office, located in Nagoya city, Aichi, Japan. This Small Home Design has three functions: a flower shop, an art gallery and living quarters. Here, these three spaces which are normally separated,break the unseen barriers and integrate with each other. With flowers displayed in the gallery, they become art.

With art in the flower shop, it becomes closer to life. With the living quarters blending with the shop space, the time it takes to arrange flowers becomes richer. With the display space in the art gallery crossing an invisible border line, we even wanted to cross the borders that define ‘home’.

On the north face of this Small Home Design, an elementary school provides an unchanging environment for the future. This property,which looks out onto the schoolyard, offers an enjoyable view of the trees and flowers that have been planted there. In an effort to blend the first floor art gallery and flower shop with the walkway leading to the school, we created an open space incorporating the walkway as part of the building’s exterior.

Utilizing the height of the ceilings of the first floor, we have framed the walkway to the schoolyard and procured the views of the cherry blossoms, tender spring leaves, and the autumn foliage. It is almost as though the school yard is an extended part of the flower shop.

The second and third floors of this Small Home Design have been built to minimize the effects of noise from the walkway by building a spacious opening on only the north side. Soft, natural light allows the owner to enjoy the plants and flowers in the most beautiful way.

By opening the architecture of this Small Home Design to the surrounding environment, we have created the opportunity to blend the ground to the building, the building to the people, and the people to other people. Via.
